A 17-year-old student named Avinash Yadav from Siraha was beaten up by three other students, 17-year-old Pramish Thapa, 19-year-old Unique Sinjali, and 18-year-old Ujjwal Mainali.
As per Avinash Yadav, on July 26, during the dance learning session of the orientation program, he was mocked by three students due to his dancing style. When he responded that he would dance in his own way, they called him to the “E Block” of the hostel and physically assaulted him.
Yadav had made an allegation that after witnessing the incident, hostel warden Rajesh Adhikari and coordinator Sunam Gaire did not take any action and instead colluded with the accused individuals.
Yadav informed INSEC that the canteen staff provided him with assistance, while the college facilitated the escape of the accused individuals after the incident.
According to the victim, he was rescued by the canteen staff and received primary treatment at college’s first aid room following the incident.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint on July 27 at the Area Police Office in Singha Durbar. Anil Adhikari, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, stated that they are currently investigating the incident based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family.
When INSEC inquired with the college’s principal, Dr. Nagendra Bahadur Aryal, regarding the incident, he mentioned that there had been a dispute among the students leading to mutual differences. He also stated that the college administration took action against the accused students by expelling them for a week.
