Dharan Mayor Restrained from Planting Trees

The High Court, Biratnagar has ordered Harka Sampang, Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, not to plant trees on registered land.

On July 27, the Biratnagar High Court issued an interim order preventing unauthorized entry and tree plantation in the land with plot numbers 421 and 345, registered in the name of the petitioner until the final verdict is reached in the case presided over by Justice Milankumar Rai of High Court, Biratnagar.

There was opposition against the tree plantation carried out by Mayor Harka Sampang in Ward No. 4 of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

A writ petition was filed in Biratnagar High Court seeking justice against Mayor Harka Sampang, for forcibly planting trees on the land registered in the name of Rojina Adhikari, the wife of the former ward president of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-1, Roshan Adhikari.

The High Court in Biratnagar issued an interim order on July 11th, directing not to carry out any activities, including unauthorized entry and tree planting, on the land registered in the name of the petitioner under plot numbers 421 and 345, while conducting proceedings on the writ petition.

The High Court has mentioned in its order that the land registered in the name of the petitioner Rojina under plot numbers 421 and 345 in Dharan Municipality-9, Banjhgara Village municipality-9(Ga) belongs to her as per the title deed, and she holds ownership rights, possession rights, and other rights as recognized by law until otherwise proven.

The dispute arose after Mayor Harak Sampang planted trees on the land in Sardu Jaladhar area, Choti Morang, on July 22, 2023.
