Students of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-2 Maskhark Panchkanya Basic School, including 70 Chepang children, were provided with stationary materials on 16 February 2023.
A news article published on Insec Online, on 18 January regarding the situation of the Chepang community, highlighted the plight of children from the communities with families facing extreme financial hardships. The article mentioned that the students from Panchakanya basic school lacked clothing, food, and stationaries.
After the news was published, financial support was crowdsourced for pregnant women, senior citizens, and children of the Chepang community. From the collected financial aid, basic school stationaries were distributed to 11 other children and 59 students studying in Maskhark. Likewise, clothes were provided to pregnant women and senior citizens of the village.
Radha Shrestha, Chairperson of Mahila Jagataran Manch, Secretary Sabina Shrestha, Dr. Manor Syed a social worker working in Manmohan Hospital, Roshan Kumar Shrestha of Lions Club of Kathmandu United Center, Roshni Karmacharya, Somi Shrestha, Suchita Shrestha, Saoana Tarmrakar Udas, Roshan Kashpati, Sarla Panchi , Tulsijang Thapa,Bedna Barjacharya , Sitaram Adhikari a journalist and human rights activist, and Tulsijang Thapa social worker, contributed to this initiation, after reading the news report.
Furthermore, Dr. Manor Sayed expressed his commitment to providing shoes for 59 students.
