INSEC and the European Union organized a province level interaction program on the current situation and challenges of human rights defenders in Nepalganj on December 19. The participants of the program emphasized that there should be a separate policy for human rights defenders.
INSEC Lumbini Province Coordinator, Bhola Mahat said that human rights defenders play a vital role in protecting human rights. He also shared that the draft Human Rights Defenders Act 2021 has been submitted to the provincial government.
Krishna Gautam from the INSEC Central Office facilitated the program. He emphasized that a person who contributes to Human Rights protection, promotion, and Human Rights Campaigns is a Human Rights Defender.
Human rights defenders from Karnali, Sudurpacchim and Lumbini Province participated in the program.
