Appeal to Hold Back from Character Assassination and Hate Speech During Election Campaign

Election Commission Chief Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has once again requested the party leaders and candidates to campaign for the election without insulting others or being involved in character assassination of others.

Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya reiterated his request at the civic dialogue on the upcoming election,  organized by Tank Prasad Acharya Memorial Foundation and Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) in Lalitpur on November 6th.

He also urged the stakeholders to create an environment free from false information, misinformation, and malicious expressions during election campaigns.

Former chief election commissioners Bhojraj Pokharel and Surya Prasad Shrestha, former election commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung, constitutional expert Nilambar Acharya, and others expressed the opinion of conducting the elections in a  clean, fair, free, and fearless manner.

Sushil Pyakurel, Founder Chairperson of INSEC and Chairperson of Tanka Prasad Acharya Memorial Foundation said that civil society, the election commission, and other stakeholders should play their roles in making elections free, fair, and fearless.
