Locals of Patan Municipality- 5, Basantapur have been suffering from an acute shortage of drinking water.
A local of the municipality, Dhwaj Singh Thagunna lamented that they have been suffering from getting sufficient drinking water due to the lack of interest from the concerned authorities.
The locals of Kaneda of Basantapur village are the ones mostly affected by the acute shortage of drinking water. Thagunna said that they have been facing the shortage of drinking water since the Panchayat period.
He emphasized that during the dry season they have to fetch drinking water from the spring which is an hour’s walk away.
Another local, Pashupati Thagunna, complained that there was a problem in raising livestock due to the shortage of drinking water in the village. He shared that it was not possible to carry water for the cattle due to the distance.
The locals have complained that their problems have not been heard even after the issue reached the concerned authorities.
Deputy Mayor of the municipality, Kamal Singh Bohara said that the municipality would take initiative to solve the problem of drinking water in different places of the municipality.
He emphasized that in the first year of their tenure, they will be taking initiative to solve the drinking water problem because it was not just prevalent in Basantapur but also in most parts of the municipality.
