The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Karnali Province, Jumla has informed the political parties not to nominate human rights violators in the election.
The commission has written to the political parties not to nominate human rights violators in the local level election scheduled for May 13, 2022, informed Bridhhanarayan Shahi, Chief of the Jumla Branch of NHRC.
He further added that the commission has written to the political parties urging them not to nominate people whom the commission has listed as human rights violators.
The mail also advised the political parties to decide their candidature on the basis of the principle of proportional inclusion in the election and not to involve children in the promotional programs organized during the election campaign.
It has been requested that no candidate or leader should use indecent words which would spread hatred in the promotional programs during the election period and adhere to the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission, especially those related to human rights.
The commission has expected the election to be held in a human rights-friendly environment with the support of all the political parties of Karnali, staffs delegated in the election, observers and voters.
