In a joint appeal issued by human rights activists, the three levels of government have been urged to start a rescue, proper management, relief and rehabilitation of the families of those who lost their lives, were disappeared and were injured and displaced in the floods and landslides caused by continuous rainfall of three days.

The appeal mentions that the government and all the government officials need to pay attention to this issue as the incessant rains during the harvest period of paddy have destroyed the crop and the loss of the staple food crop may lead to famine.

The concerned bodies’ attention has been drawn for proper relief to the families of the deceased, treatment of the injured, safe settlement of the displaced, proper compensation to the farmers and systematic implementation of the disaster preparedness and response plan by collecting the factual details of the victims and those who are affected.
