Police have arrested Assistant Sub Inspector Yubaraj Baniya, 35, on July 12, 2021, on the accusation of killing Bimala Devi Parajuli, 45, Office Assistant of High Court Biratnagar, Ilam Bench. Bimala was a resident of Solukhumbu Nechasalyan Rural Municipality-2 and the accused of her murder was made public on July 13, 2021.
Bimala’s dead body was found in a half-naked state at the premises of High Court Biratnagar, Ilam Bench on July 12, 2021.
Baniya, delegated as the security guard of the Chief Judge of Ilam Bench confessed killing Parajuli in the judge’s quarters whilst the judge was on leave. DSP Mahendra Shrestha of the District Police Office told INSEC that the cause of the murder could not be discovered.
DSP Mahendra Kumar Shrestha of the District Police Office informed that the dead body was found half-naked in office uniform but an investigation is ongoing into whether she was killed after sexual activity. Although the accused had given a statement in the primary investigation that he suffocated her to death due to a transactional dispute, DSP Shrestha said that an investigation was underway into whether the body was killed after sexual activity as the nature of the body was slightly different.
Post-mortem of the body was conducted at BP Koirala Academy of Health Science, Dharan on July 13, 2021.
