The Pakhribas Municipality Office was vandalized on June 24, 2021, after the Mayor and ward chairpersons of the municipality had a dispute over the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 after the budget was presented without having any discussion in the wards.
According to Mukti Bajagain, a local, the opposition submitted a memorandum of disagreement in the budget to the Municipal Assembly on June 24. He further added, there was a contradiction and Saroj Rai, a member from ward number 5, retaliated to the opponents which led to the sabotaging.

Mayor Birkha Rai informed that after the memorandum was submitted, Chairperson of Nepali Congress Pakhribas, Prem Bhandari vandalized the municipality office even though the opposition party had assured to submit the memorandum to the Municipal Assembly.
Prem Bhandari has said that the Municipal Assembly will be postponed until the budget is allocated on a priority basis with discussion in every ward and after the ward member apologizes publicly for his misbehaviour.

Ravi Poudel of Pakhribas Municipality-4 said that the municipal office was vandalized after the ward chairpersons drafted the budget without any discussion in all the wards.
The municipality has claimed that the vandalization destroyed the infrastructures worth NRs. 200,000 which included 40 chairs, two tables, and four windows.
