Police have arrested three young men on the charge of beating Dr Shankar Prasad Rijal, 38 and Dr Yadav Prasad Upadhyay, 40, of Karnali Provincial Ayurveda Hospital.
The accused have been identified as Pawan Adhikari, 18, of Birendranagar Municipality-2, Bibek Puri, 18, of Ward No. 4 and Salim Bharati, 16.
According to Karnali Provincial Ayurveda Hospital Management Committee’s Chairperson Binod Dhakal, on June 10, 2021, a group of eight people, including Puri and Bharati, had beaten the doctors while they were on their way home after checking the infected people in the isolation of the hospital.
According to Chairperson Dhakal, Rijal’s clothes were torn and they were beaten brutally. According to him, both the doctors are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
DSP Gharti said that five others involved in the incident were absconding and were being searched for.
