High Court Demands for Cause of Non-distribution of Relief to Needy

The Rajbiraj Bench of the Janakpur High Court has demanded basis, reason, and evidence with the Chief Minister and the Office of the Council of Ministers for not distributing relief to the poor and needy families during the prohibitory order.

In the writ filed by advocate Dharmendra Prasad Yadav, a single bench of Justice Basudev Acharya has directed the provincial government to send a written reply in person or through a representative within 15 days.

The petition was filed demanding provision of the Right to Food under Article 36 of the Constitution, Federal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, 2074 BS and Disaster Management Act, 2075 BS, Prohibition Order and minimum relief to the target group.

The writ petition also asked for an interim order to distribute relief to the needy. However, the High Court said that the interim order should be discussed with both sides and the trial was fixed for June 14, 2021.

The court has asked the Chief Attorney’s Office, Janakpur to submit the information of the case to the court as per the rules.
