Ordinance Issued on the Security of Health Workers and Health Organizations

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has issued an Ordinance on the Protection of Health Workers and Health Organization (First Amendment), 2078 BS.

The President issued the ordinance on June 6 on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers following Article 114 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.

According to the ordinance, if a health worker or an employee working in a health organization is assaulted, harassed, or physically injured, the perpetrator will be fined NRs. 200,000 or will be imprisonment for four years or both.

The same has been decided to those who lock, vandalize, set fire, or besiege the health organization.

Those found guilty of threatening,  mentally abusing or insulting a health worker or an employee of a health organization will be fined up to NRs 50,000 or imprisonment of one year or both.

Similarly, those who obstruct the treatment of the patients will be fined up to NRs 20,000 and will be imprisoned for up to three months.
