Civil Society Network for Peace has demanded the government to construct oxygen plants in all government hospitals.
In a press release published on May 16, 2021, they have demanded the construction of adequate oxygen plants and supply to the hospitals considering the recent deaths of many patients due to a lack of oxygen.
The press release has called for speedy construction of Covid Hospitals in each district, mobilization of health workers to end untreated deaths, improvement of hospital infrastructure and increase the rate of COVID test and construct isolations.
Mentioned in the release,- ‘Our attention is drawn to the news published and broadcasted in the media related to black marketing of food, medicines and other equipment and corruption, therefore, a mechanism should be developed to stop this trend.
Effective monitoring, necessary investigation, and strict action against the culprits have been demanded in this regard.
Stating that there are complaints that private and private hospitals are charging excessive fees for the treatment of Covid patients, the network has also demanded that such hospitals should be brought under the sphere of action.
The network also demanded that the Government of Nepal should take a diplomatic initiative to make the vaccine available to all citizens immediately.
Affirming that the citizens should also strictly adhere to the health standards, the network said that it is unable to provide health services to the citizens if the infection rate increases. Compulsory representation of civil society and social organizations in all the districts of the state in the DCCCC and other COVID-19 response committees should be made.
Concerned bodies and stakeholders should be made alert considering that women and children, persons with disabilities, persons belonging to Dalit and marginalized communities, senior citizens and daily wage earners are at higher risk during any transition and disaster and may face increased domestic violence, sexual abuse, labour exploitation and other forms of violence.
