Madan Shahi, news chief and Basanta Jaisi, Managing Director of Radio Red Star FM of Lamkichuha Municipality-1, Tikapur Road were beaten by nine people including Tekraj Kathayat, 37, of the same place on April 18, 2021.
The accused had entered the media house and beaten them for uploading status in their Facebook profile which was against the group’s political preference.
The victims have lodged a complaint against the accused Tekraj Kathayat and others at the Area Police Office, Lamki on April 19 alleging that they were beaten and vandalized.
Managing Director of FM Basanta Jaisi, who sustained head and neck injuries due to the beating, is undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Medical College, said Shahi.
Inspector Narendra Bhandari of the Area Police Office, Lamki said that search was on for the accused as they were absconding.
The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Sudur Paschim Province Branch, FNJ, Kailali and Nepal Press Union, Kailali have issued a press release demanding to arrest the perpetrators and to take legal action against them.
