The Dailekh District Court has sentenced Deepak BK, 22, of Bandeu Tole in Dullu Municipality-4 to 19 years’ imprisonment and fined NRs 100,000 as compensation for raping a 13-year-old girl. The guilty was also charged NRs 2,200 for the victim’s relief fund
Indra Bahadur Karki informed that the verdict was handed down from the bench of Judge Dandapani Lamichhane on April 9.
The victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Dailekh on December 19, 2019, alleging that the accused had raped the girl on December 16, 2019.
The girl was examined at Dullu Hospital on December 19. Police had arrested the accused on January 19.
Accused Deepak BK was remanded in custody at Dailekh Jail for trial on January 12 after an arraignment
Karki said that the verdict was delayed due to the delay in the report of the victim’s ‘vaginal swab’ sent to the forensic laboratory to confirm whether there was rape.
