Bharat Sapkota, 40, of Baglung Municipality-5 has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the district court for raping a 19-year-old girl.
A bench of Baglung District Court Judge Basudev Neupane found the accused guilty of rape and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and was also fined Rs 100,000 as compensation and charged Rs 1,300 for the victim’s relief fund, Baglung District Court on March 23, informed Information Officer Surya Prasad Bhandari.
The victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Baglung on July 31, 2020, alleging that the accused had raped her.
Police had arrested the accused on the same day and filed a case against him through the District Public Prosecutor’s Office at the District Court, Baglung on August 24.
The accused was lodged in Baglung District Jail on August 25 for trial.
