Gokul Bhujel, 28, of Madi Municipality-4, has been sentenced to seven years in prison by the district court for raping a 26-year-old woman with an intellectual disability.
A bench of Judge Shanti Prasad Acharya found him guilty and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment on March 14, informed Kabiraj Raut, of the court.
According to the Criminal Code, 219 (3) A, the accused has been ordered to pay Rs. 200,000 as compensation from the culprit to the victim, said Raut.
The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Chainpur on January 13 accusing him of raping the victim on January 11.
Based on the complaint of the victim, the accused was arrested by the police from Madi Municipality-4 on January 12 and a case was registered in the District Court, Chainpur on January 13.
The victim was examined at Chainpur Primary Health Center on January 14.
