In the past one week, the number of cured infected people has increased by 1,180 than the number of total infected people. In the previous week, 17,410 infected people have been added and 18,590 infected people have been cured. Last week, 16,100 people were infected with COVID-19. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there were 179,614 people infected on November 3. The total number reached 1, 97,024 on November 9. A total of 122 people have died of the infection in a week. Last week, 108 people died of the infection. At the same time, the death toll has reached 1,126. The ministry also said that 70,276 samples were tested in a week. Previously, 69,118 swabs were tested. So far, 1,551,254 swabs have been tested.
Provincial Overview Of The Past One Week
In Province 1,
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 426 people, including 259 men and 167 women, have been infected with COVID-19 in Jhapa during the period from November 3 to 9. In Sunsari, 732 people have been infected with COVID-19 including 432 men and 300 women, in Khotang 30 people have been infected with COVID-19 including 12 men and 18 women, in Morang 674 men and 440 women were diagnosed positive with COVID-19 and there are 80 people infected in Udaypur including 55 men and 25 women. In Dhankuta, 34 people including 19 men and 15 women were infected, 26 people including 15 men and 11 women were infected in Ilam, 25 people including 17 men and 8 women were infected in Panchthar. In Okhaldhunga, 25 people were infected including 19 men and 6 women, 15 men and 2 women were diagnosed positive in Bhojpur, 10 men and 5 women were diagnosed positive in Sankhuwasabha, 5 men were diagnosed positive in Taplejung, 4 men and 6 women were diagnosed positive in Solukhumbu. In Tehrathum, 16 men and 5 women were diagnosed positive with COVID-19. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, tests conducted in Koshi COVID-19 Hospital in Province 1, Provincial Public Health Laboratory, BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Ghopa Laboratory, Mechi Hospital Laboratory, Kotihom Laboratory, Novel Hospital Laboratory, Birat Hospital Laboratory and Neuro Hospital Laboratory have diagnosed 2,556 people infected with COVID-19 within a week.
In Province 2,
In one week, 490 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Province 2. Last week, 529 people were added. The number of infected people has increased from 18,479 on November 3 to 18,969 by November 9. Eight more people have died in the past week. A total of 167 people have died in Province-2 till November 9. In one week, 566 people have recovered. Of the 1,096 people active infected on November 3, the number has dropped to 1,012.
In Bagmati Province,
The number of COVID-19 infections in the province has reached 106,012 including 40,815 women and 65,197 men. In the previous week there were 93,332 people infected with COVID-19 which has now reached to 12,680. Of the total infected people in the province, 82,520 have recovered after treatment while 22,943 are undergoing treatment in isolation and home isolation. The number of active cases has dropped from 23,132 to 22,943 this week. The death toll has reached 549 as of November 9. The death rate due to COVID-19 in the province has dropped to 0.52 % from 0.53 %.The percentage of women infected in this province is increasing every week. While 38 % women and 62% men were infected in the previous week, the number of women infected has increased by 0.5 % and reached to 38.5 % and the number of infected men has decreased to 61.5 %.
This week, the Bagmati Province holds 53.81% of the total number of infection throughout the country. The province has more than two-thirds of the infected people between the age group of 21 to 50, while the death rate is higher among those over 60. Of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, 74.7% were cured in the previous week, but the number has increased to 77.8% by November 9.
In Gandaki Province,
In Gandaki, an additional 1,683 people have been infected with COVID-19 from November 3 to 9. Of them, 1,062 are males and 621 are females. Besides, the total number of infected people in the province is 9,728. This year, 1,251 people have been cured of COVID-19 infection. At the same time, the total number of recoveries in the province has 7,945. So far, 65 people have died from COVID-19 infection in the province. Of these, 11 have died this week. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there are 2,971 active infected in the province at present, out of which more than 500 are in Kaski and Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta) districts. Of those actively infected, 1,748 are in home isolation, 72 in ICUs and nine in ventilators.
People’s representatives have started reaching the homes of the people in the Benibazar area of Myagdi district headquarters to aware them to stop the spread of COVID-19 infection. The Beni Municipality has stated that the door-to-door program started by the mayor and ward chairpersons on November 8 will be conducted in all the wards of the municipality. On the first day, the door-to-door program was carried out in the district headquarters area of Beni Municipality-7 and 8 under the leadership of Mayor Hari Kumar Shrestha. Similarly, the lockdown of seven days from October 30 has been extended for another seven days from November 7 to 13. Mayor Shrestha said that a campaign has been launched to understand the condition of the people by visiting the doorsteps from November 7, including monitoring the lockdown, to increase the monitoring if any symptoms are seen and to ensure strict adherence to the public health standards.
The District Administration Office, Tanahu, has banned playing deusi on the occasion of Tihar. As per the decision of the meeting of the District Crisis Management Center held on November 5, the risk of COVID-19 has been increasing. The Kaski District Administration Office has issued a press release on November 9 urging not to crowd during Tihar and Chhath and to celebrate the festival. They have requested to stay confined to one’s own family. A statement issued by Chief District Officer Gyan Nath Dhakal said that it is not allowed to play Deusi Bhailo, walk in public and crowd, and buy and sell explosives like firecrackers.
In Lumbini Province,
A total of 2,228 people, including 877 women and 1,351 men, have been diagnosed positive with COVID-19 infection in Lumbini province from November 3 to November 9. Of these, the highest number of 262 women and 375 men were found COVID-19 positive in Rupandehi and while the lowest number of 307 women and 77 men were found COVID-19 positive in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West).
Similarly, in the hilly districts, the highest number of 414 people including 151 women and 263 men were found COVID-19 positive in Palpa while the lowest number of three women and two men have been infected in Rukum (East). Dang and Rupandehi are the most active districts in the province. The number of people living in home isolation is 2,202. Similarly, there are 54 in ICU and 6 on a ventilator. 18,567 people have been cured in the province. Currently, there are 3,305 active infected. A total of 161 people have died due to COVID.
In Karnali Province,
In Karnali, 20 people have been diagnosed positive on November 9 and the number of those infected has reached to 5,873. Of them, 334 are actively infected, 309 are in home isolation and nine are undergoing treatment in the ICU. So far, 5,526 people have been cured. The death toll from the COVID-19 infection has risen to 13 this week, with one more person dying. A week ago, the number of COVID-19 infected people in the province was 5,635. This week, 238 people have been infected.
In Sudur Paschim Province,
In one week, 541 people have been infected with COVID-19 in the province. Of the 10,074 infected people on November 3, this number has increased to 10,615 by November 9. The death toll in the province has risen by 10 this week. In one week, 27 people have died in the province. In one week, 566 people have recovered. Of the 892 active infected on November 3, the number has come down to 864 from November 9.
