District Administration Office of Dadeldhura published a press release mentioning instructions regarding the eradication of Chhaupadi practice. The release was signed by CDO Raju Prasad Paudel which explains about the actions that will be taken against any activities done to promote Chhaupadi in accordance to National Criminal Procedure Code- 2074.
Chhaupadi is a social crime and superstition which discriminates women. To discourage these activities the district’s local level has requested to manage awareness programs as well.
Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed District Administration Office to destroy the Chhaupadi Sheds of entire Dadeldhura and different places of the far-west on 25th December. The District Administration Office has claimed of taking legal actions on those living and forcing to live in the Chhaupadi Shed.
CDO Paudel has also informed about organizing programs to increase awareness in public about the National Criminal Procedure Code- 2074 defined Legal Management against Social Discrimination and Impolite behavior. He added that the promoters of Chhaupadi practice will be under legal actions.
