The inmates and detainees in Humla are facing difficulties due to the lack of prison building. The one and only district prison of of Humla is in dilapidated condition.
INSEC district representative Nanda Sing met jailer Neema Gurung of the prison and seek permission to meet them. Detainees are compelled to stay in the custody of District Police Office due to the lack of prison’s own building according to detainee Dhan Lal Rokaya.
He said that there are no entertainment or health facilities provided in the prison. The district prison has a capacity to accommodate only 25 inmates and detainees.
According to the jailer Gurung, new prison building is being constructed to solve the issue and accepted that none of the services are being provided to the inmates and detainees.
