Police have arrested 28 years old Salim Siddique of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan-8 on May 2 on charge of beating his wife Pharhin Siddique for not bringing dowry.
The victim had lodged complaint at Women and Children Service Centre under the District Police Office on April 29 accusing her husband of beating and torturing her for not bringing dowry. She added that she was threatened for life by the accused.
She complained of being victimized of domestic violence by her husband and other family members since two months.
ASI Shyam Kumari Paija of Women and Children Service Centre said that the accused was arrested for the investigation.
