A team from office of attorney general have monitored the Human Rights situation and physical infrastructure of the district prison of Rukum on November 17 and 18.
A team led by sub-attorney general Khem Raj Gyawali had monitored the prison and custody of District Police Office of Rukum.
During the visit Gywali said that inmates and detainees complained about the incidents of torture, over crowded prison, lack of pure drinking water and problems of toilet.
The district prison of Rukum have a capacity to accommodate 25 inmates and detainees however there are altogether 67 inmates and detainees including 60 male and 7 female inmates.
Inmate Suraj Pariyar requested the team to initiate for the improvement of the prison as their human rights have been violated due to the overcrowded prison.
