Victim of Domestic Violence Admitted to Hospital After INSEC’s Initiative

Jyoti Sah, 21 of Mahadeva Rural Municipality-6, Dhikali is a victim of domestic violence. On July 14, 2021, the injured victim was admitted to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj after the initiative of INSEC representative Manohar Kumar Pokharel.

According to Pokharel, the victim was beaten by father-in-law Shree Lal Sah, 50, mother-in-law Durga Devi Sah,45, and sister-in-law Ruby Sah, 22. He further added that Jyoti had called the INSEC representative after reaching Rajbiraj and asked for help following which Pokharel helped her to get admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The victim had bruises all over her body and she was badly wounded. She was treated free of cost on the initiative of the INSEC representative. According to the victim, the accused had beaten her while she was sleeping in the afternoon due to menstrual period cramps. According to the victim, her husband Pikeshwar Sah, 28, is currently doing business in Kathmandu.

The victim was married to her husband on April 24, 2017, following the social tradition and has a one year and six months old son

Jyoti’s parents have reached Rajbiraj from Harinagar of Lahan Municipality-20 in Siraha district to take care of her.

The victim’s mother Sunita Sah has lodged a complaint at the Women, Children, and Senior Citizens’ Service Centre of the District Police Office on July 14.

Sub-Inspector Gangaram Chaudhary of the Service Centre has said that the victim will be examined on July 15.

Previously, the victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on March 11, 2019, due to domestic violence. After repeated attempts, they had reached an agreement on April 3, 2019.
