Health Worker Killed, Accused Unidentified

The victim’s side has alleged that Asmita Dhami, 26, an employee of Jamarani Basic Health Unit Centre of Parashuram Municipality-8 was killed and the accused is unknown.

Asmita had left for Jogbuda Hospital from the Health Unit Centre with some remaining COVID vaccines and health supplies on June 16, 2021. According to Govinda Bohora, Chairperson of Parashuram Municipality-8, her dead body was found on June 19 and it had bruises all over. Also, the dead body had a broken nose and tooth. It has been suspected as a murder, he added.

Normally, Asmita used to return from the office in every two days. She used to stay at a relative’s house near the office and returned home the next day. But this time she did not return back on the second day. Asmita’s family searched for her at the Jogbuda Hospital and at her relatives’ place on June 17 and 18. The family then requested the police to search for Asmita on June 19.

According to DSP Mahendra Nepal of the District Police Office, Dadeldhura, Asmita’s dead body was found in the Hatwani Community Forest at Parashuram Municipality-9 on June 19 while a team from the Border Post, Tatapani and Jogbuda Area Police Offices were searching for her.

A team led by Inspector Harsha Bahadur Chand from the District Police Office, Dadeldhura has been investigating the incident since June 19. A separate team from the Federal Police Unit Office and the Provincial Police Office has been sent to the spot for further investigation on June 20, said SP Yogendra Thapa of the Sudur Paschim Province Police Office.

The post-mortem of the body was conducted at Jogbuda Hospital on June 20.
