Budget of Province 1: Prioritized Health, Education, and Agriculture Sector

The government of Province 1 has presented the budget of the Fiscal Year 2021/22 with the priority on health, education, and agriculture sector on June 15.

The province government has allocated NRs 1.19 billion for the education sector. As per the presented budget, NRs. 234.9 million has been allocated for the Chief Minister’s Educational Reform Program.

The province government has allocated NRs. 3.25 billion for vaccination, reduction, prevention and diagnosis of COVID-19 and overall development of the health sector.

The province government has allocated NRs. 1.19 billion for the overall development of the education sector and NRs. 168 million for women, children, and senior citizens.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Tanka Angbuhang said that the construction of 4,500 houses will be completed by the end of this fiscal year. The province government is planning to build 3,000 houses for the deprived and marginalized communities in the coming fiscal year.

Also, 360 million has been allocated in the field of forest and environment in the budget of the Fiscal Year 078/079 presented by the province government on June 15.

NRs. 13.21 billion has been allocated for the physical infrastructure and transport sector in Province 1. The province government has allocated a budget of Rs. 138.1 million for the upliftment of the Dalit community for the fiscal year 2021/22.

The province government has allocated NRs. 160 million for the development of youth, sports, and labour and employment sectors for the fiscal year 2021/22. Presenting the budget, Minister Tanka Angbuhang said that the Chief Minister has allocated NRs. 100 million for the youth entrepreneurship program.

The province government has allocated NRs. 833.8 million in the field of culture, tourism, and biodiversity in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2013/14.

The province government has allocated NRs. 1.82 billion for drinking water and sanitation for the fiscal year 2021/22.

A budget of NRs. 2.90 billion has been allocated for the development of the agriculture sector for the Fiscal Year 2021/22.

The state government has presented an estimated budget of NRs. 32.46 billion for the fiscal year 2021/22.

In the budget presented by Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Tanka Angbuhang, NRs. 14.16 billion or 43.6 per cent has been allocated for the current expenditure and NRs. 15.53 billion or 46.3 percent for the capital expenditure.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Angbuhang said that the budget is estimated at NRs 4.97 billion from internal sources and NRs 9.81 billion from revenue sharing.

Similarly, the financial equalization grant from the federal government is NRs. 8.56 billion, the conditional grant is Rs. 5.96 billion 77 million, the supplementary grant is NRs. 1.164 billion and the special grant is NRs. 593.3 million.

The remaining insufficient amount for the current fiscal year will be Rs 2 billion from cash reserves and NRs 261.3 million from foreign grants, said Minister Angbuhang.
