Provincial Government Decides to Give 2.5 million as Compensation to the Families of the Team Engaged in the Treatment of COVID Patients

The provincial government has decided to pay compensation of NRs. 2.5 million to the families of the doctors, health workers, and staffs if they die during the treatment of COVID patients.

According to the Social Development Minister of Province 1, Ushakala Rai, if the doctors, health workers, drivers, cleaners as well as the staffs who are directly involved in the identification, diagnosis, treatment, disposal and management of corpses of Covid-19 patient die due to the infection, then their family will receive NRs. 2.5 million as compensation.

After the meeting of the Council of Ministers on May 5, 2021, it was decided to provide a lump sum of Rs. 2.5 million from the provincial government as compensation to the families of the deceased, said Social Development Minister Usha Kala Rai.

The cabinet meeting has decided that the provincial government will bear all the expenses incurred for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in government and private hospitals specified by the provincial government.

The Council of Ministers has decided to provide a fifty percent risk allowance of the starting salary scale to the team delegated at the Koshi Hospital Covid-19 Treatment Centre, Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar and all the hospitals under the provincial, said Social Development Minister Rai.
