Eight Injured in the blast at the Land Revenue Office

Eight persons, including beneficiaries and employees, were injured when a pressure cooker bomb exploded at the Land Revenue Office in Lahan Municipality-8 on March 14.

The injured have been identified as Shiva Kumar Yadav, 38, of Bishnupur Rural Municipality-3. Yadav is an employee of the office. The beneficiaries were identified as Badri Narayan Yadav, 54, of Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality-3, Dinesh Bhandari, 30, of Dhangadhimai Municipality-4 and Laxmi Rana, 35, of Golbazar Municipality-6, Phul Kumari Thakur, 38, of Golbazar Municipality-4, Bechni Magar, Golbazar Municipality-4, Lal Babu BK, 45, of Lahan Municipality-16 and Lekhandas Bhola Bahadur Pache Magar, 82, of Dhangadhimai Municipality-13.

The injured are being treated at Ram Kumar Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital, Lahan and Saptarishi Hospital. However, Dinesh Bhandari has been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment, informed DSP Dahal of the Area Police Office.

Stating that a Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha leaflet was found at the incident spot, DSP Dahal said that the incident was being investigated and action would be taken against the accused.

According to Rajan Kafle of the Land Revenue Office, Lahan, the office was crowded with beneficiaries. Suddenly, a loud noise came and the office was filled with smoke.

“We immediately reported the matter to the police,” said Kafle. “Furniture, documents, and windows of the office have been damaged.
