District court has sentenced Bed Prakash Mandal, 20, of Birendra Bazar in Rupani Rural Municipality-6 to seven years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl.
A bench of Judge Ishwar Mani Ojha found the accused guilty, said Hem Bahadur Budathoki, information officer of the court.
According to the District Court, Mandal has been lodged in Rajbiraj Jail for trial since June 16, 2019.
The victim was staying at a relative’s house in Rupani Rural Municipality-6 due to her examination. According to the victim’s family, the victim reached home at 11 pm after the accused gang-raped by six people on May 19, 2019.
The girl was taken to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj on May 19. Police had arrested Bed Prakash Mandal on June 19.
Based on the statement given by the arrested accused, the police and the District Public Prosecutor’s Office have registered a case against Dilip Kumar Khang, 37, Debnarayan Mandal, 25, Sumit Mandal, 20, Bidyananda Sardar, 20, Ananda Sardar, 28, and Omprakash Mandal, 28, of Rupni Rural Municipalilty-6.
The other accused have not been arrested so far.
