An interaction program on the empowerment of human rights defenders and district level network building with the financial support of INSEC, Doti and DCA has been completed in Silgadhi on September 21.
Shankardeep Madai, the chairperson of the High Court Bar Unit, Dipayal, said that there was no reduction in the incidence of human rights violations in the society, adding that the victims could not get justice as the government was not serious about protecting human rights.
Ram Hari Ojha, the editor of Bimba Weekly, said that the human rights groups formed in the district need to work continuously for the protection and promotion of human rights and for the victims.

Sita BK, Chairperson of the Human Rights Monitoring Group, briefed the human rights defenders on their work, duties and rights and said that it was necessary to conduct capacity building programs for human rights activists.
Devaki Bohara, the chairperson of the Secure Short-Term Women’s Service Center, Doti, said that human rights defenders need to understand the issues of Dalits, women and children as common issues and advocate for them.

A nine-member district level human rights defender network has also been formed under the coordination of human rights activist Nabaraj Joshi. The network’s advisors include Shankar Madai, chairman of the High Court Bar Unit, Adhiraj BC, a human rights activist, and Jhalak Pali.
The coordinator of the network, Nabaraj Joshi, said that it was necessary to prepare an action plan in the coming days in coordination with all parties to mobilize the human rights defenders and advocate on behalf of the victims.
