On August 28, an incident occurred in which an 80-year-old woman named Bhagarathi Chand from Malikarjun Rural Municipality-7, Topika, was tragically killed. Her death was a result of stab wounds to her neck and chest.
Inspector Gyanendra Bahadur Singh from the District Police Office in Darchula reported that the elderly woman, who was living alone, was found dead with knife-inflicted injuries to her neck and chest. Concerned relatives had filed a complaint with the police station on August 28, stating that they hadn’t seen the woman since August 26.
Chakra Bahadur Chand, the deceased woman’s son, had returned from Mahendranagar on August 27. With the assistance of local representatives and the police, they entered the house after breaking the lock. The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination on August 28 at District Hospital, Darchula. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and as of now, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
