Students Protest Alleged Misconduct by School Staff

Suresh Mehta, 39, an accounts staff member at Rajaji Secondary School in Inneruwa Municipality–2, has been accused of sexual abuse involving students from grades eight to ten.

Students began protesting on January 5, 2026, and continued till the next day.

During the protest, students closed the school and surrounded the Inneruwa Municipality office, Bus Chowk, and the District Police Office. On January 6, they also caused damage at a neighboring school, blocked traffic at Bus Chowk, and held demonstrations throughout the day.

The allegations state that the staff member repeatedly engaged in inappropriate behavior toward students. Victims claim he called them alone and acted inappropriately.

DSP Chandrabahadur Khadka confirmed that a written complaint has been filed at the District Police Office. After the protest began, the accused went into hiding and is currently being sought by authorities. The police have started a preliminary investigation.

Following complaints from parents and students, the School Management Committee held a meeting and requested clarification from the accused. Committee Chairman Boudhanarayan Mehta said the decision was based on previous complaints regarding the staff member’s behavior. Principal Ramsagar Mehta confirmed that the staff member was asked for clarification, and action would be taken if no response was received within 72 hours. The student protests began in response to the lack of resolution.

The principal added that the staff member has not been in contact with the school. During the protests, students restricted teachers’ movement within the school and intensified their demonstrations. Student Sanjiv Sharma stated that the protest will continue until the accused is held accountable.

Inneruwa Municipality Chief Kedar Bhandari requested students to halt the protest, noting that the staff member is being prepared for suspension.
