Corona Virus: Status Update of Gandaki Province

In this province, by the end of 8 April 259 samples have been collected for the test, out of which 135 were found negative, two were found positive and 122 results are pending. The 16 people staying in quarantine at the Malepatan Agriculture Training Centre have returned home.

According to the District Representative of Kaski, Sushan Ghimire, the 16 people staying in quarantine were found negative, informed Chief Dr Binod Bindu Sharma. An amount of Rs. 30,647,161 has been collected in the relief fund of Pokhara Metropolitan City for the needy and daily-waged workers. They have started distributing half and full package of relief to 18,620 families in 33 wards of the Pokhara Metropolitan City. Till date, there are 3,577 people found disobeying the lockdown. They were arrested, counselled, and released. On 7 April, the ambulance called for emergency service denied coming to pick up the patient. The police warned the ambulance driver. Till date 502 have dialled for the Hello Doctor Hotline Service (1092) for their consultation.

According to the District Representative of Gorkha, Hari Ram Uprety, 26 people are returning from abroad living in self-quarantine at the Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality. Their swabs have been sent for test. Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality has established a disaster management fund with an amount of Rs. 1,550,000. This amount will be used to buy health equipment and to provide relief to the needy ones. All the eight wards have been provided with hand-mic for regular micing.

According to the District Representative of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Tirtha Raj Dumre, till 8 April, 20 swabs have been tested and the report was negative. There are 755 quarantine beds are 24 isolation beds in the district. The lockdown has not been followed in the rural regions. Locals are found coming out of their houses in the evening. The local levels are distributing reliefs to the needy ones. There was a clash during the relief buying2 at Hupsekot Rural Municipality, therefore the storage was locked-down and was later opened after reconciliation.

According to the District Representative of Parbat, Santosh Thapa, even when the locals are following the lockdown, the people’s representative were forming crowd during the distribution of the relief. Relief distribution has started in Bihadi, Modi and Mahashila Rural Municipality whereas Kushma and Falewas Municipality, Jaljala and Painju Rural Municipality is occupied in collecting the details of the corona infected ones. In Mahashila Rural Municipality 153 people have received first level of relief whereas Bihadi Rural Municipality has 567 families and Painju Rural Municipality has 800 families who will receive the relief. In Parbat on 8 April 18 swabs were sent to Pokhara Health Science Academy. Report of the 9 swabs sent on 7 April has not come up with the result.

According to the District Representative of Baglung, Srijana Pant, 10 swabs have been sent for test at the Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital. These swabs belonged to four men coming with the corona infected man from Kailali, two coming from Sunwal border, two receiving them and two other infected from Baglung. Their report will come on 9 April.

According to the District Representative of Tanahu, Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, there were no swab tests on 8 April. The relief distribution is on-going to the needy families. Locals of the Byas Municipality- 13 complaints that the needy ones have not been counted. The ward has assured of recounting and providing relief.

According to the District Representative of Myagdi, Amrit Prasad Poudel, 2700 needy families have been provided with relief. In five local levels, 2,688 families have been provided with reliefs. There are 3 women and 11 men in quarantine. There are 173 quarantine beds and six isolation beds. There is no one in the isolation. There are 169 PPE in total in the district.

According to the District Representative of Lamjung, Dal Bahadur Majakoti,  15 swabs have been sent for test from the Madhya Nepal Municipality.  The local level is monitoring the quarantine and isolation. They have made sure that the people are getting medical services for their regular need. If needed there is a provision of contacting the Mayor directly.
