The government has added eight more days to the ongoing lockdown and prolonged it till 15 April 2020. A cabinet meeting held on 6 April 2020, its decision was taken.
After finding the first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, the first lockdown was declared on 24 March – 31 March 2020. Later it was stretched till 7 April 2020. Meanwhile, the infection was found in local level, hence the government has tightened the commuting from one local level to another.
The meeting has decided of giving important roles to the Ministers who aren’t involved in the Corona Prevention and Control Coordination Committee.
According to the spokesperson of the government Dr Yubraj Khatiwada; Basanta Nemwang, the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister was given the coordination responsibility of Province 1 and Padma Aryal, Minister of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation was given the coordination responsibility of Gandaki Province.
Forest and Environment Minister Sakti Basnet was given the coordination responsibility of Karnali Province. Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun was given the coordination responsibility of Province 5 and Labour, Employment and Social Security Minister Rameshwor Raya Yadav was given the coordination responsibility of Province 2.
Minister of Water Supply, Bina Magar was given the coordination responsibility of Far West Province. Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe is given the responsibility to coordinate with the Ministers in the Parliament.
