Corona Virus: Status of Bagmati Province

According to the Department of Health, on 23 March one positive case of COVID-19 was found in a woman, she had landed in Nepal from the Qatar Airways flight- QR 652 which came from Doha. This is the second case. Three passengers of the same flight have been found positive of COVID-19 till now. Before this, in the same flight, one lady of Kathmandu and one of Baglung had boarded from Qatar.

As of 5 April 2020, seven additional cases have been confirmed, one each in Kathmandu and Kanchanpur districts, two in Baglung and three in Kailali. There are six positive cases found in Nepal till date including the aforementioned. Among the total cases, one has already returned after treatment and five are under treatment.

Bagmati Province and local government has been working for the prevention of global pandemic (COVID-19) effects on its territories. In Makawanpur and Bhaktapur district coronavirus test started from 2 April. High alert has been declared in all districts.

Local government and provincial officials have established 615 isolation ward and 2533 quarantine shelter. In Chitwan district, there are 196 bedded isolation wards and 182 bedded quarantine ward has been prepared. According to Spokesperson of the Ministry of Social Development, Deependra Subedi, nine are in the isolation ward. According to him in Dolakha district 59 isolation wards and 118 bedded quarantine has been prepared meanwhile 48 health person received PPE item. The Remote area of Bagmati Province Rasuwa has 52 bedded isolation wards and 216 bedded quarantine has been prepared at the same time in Sindhupalchok 143 bedded isolation ward and 213 bedded quarantine shelters have been prepared. In Ramechhap district 29 isolation wards under the process of construction and 36 bedded people all are kept under quarantine where they came from third countries.

Likewise in Makawanpur district 86 bedded quarantine shelter has been completed and 30 bedded isolation ward under process.  According to Ministry in Bagmati province’s 13 bedded districts 320 ICU are prepared and in different districts 654 people staying in quarantine.

The district nearest with Kathmandu Valley Kavrepalanchowk has established 21 isolation wards. Nepal Army and local government have established 243 quarantine, similarly, in Nuwakot 10 isolation ward and 91 quarantine shelters have been established. In this district, 15 people are self-quarantine.

In Sindhuli 9 local authorities has established quarantine. In one local authority have established 2 to 39 quarantines as per need. 103 quarantine established in total and likewise 14 isolation ward established in five local authorities. There is no more isolation ward in 4 were 10 people in self-quarantines.

In Dhading 6 isolation ward established and 164 quarantines prepared. Similarly People from different countries who came from third countries including 3 females 69 in quarantines.

According to information Officer Subedi 133, people’s Throat swab has experimented and 110 results found negative.

According to Makawanpur District Representative Pushparaj Adhikari, 23 people peoples experiment result yet to come and among them, Chitwan District has the highest number of throat swab test in total 54 test report 45 people’s report has been received.

Meanwhile in Ramechhap district after the normal situation people those who are living in quarantine are returning home said by district Representative of INSEC Nawaraj Pathik.  Till now people of Dormba Rural Municipality6 and  Gokul Ganga Municipality 3 had returned in their home after normal Situation according to district Health post chief Jitendra Karna In whole district 76 people are kept in quarantine among theme from Gokul Ganga Municipality 7, Dorama Rural municipality 4, Mantahli Municipality 10, Ramechhap Municipality 26, Sunapati Rural municipality 13, Khadadevi Rural Municipality 11 and Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality 5 people in Quarantine said by Health post chief Jitendra Karna. Among them, 68 are in Home quarantine.

According to Bhaktapur District Representative Ramesh  Giri has reported that Madhyapur municipality has started distribution of relief items for the marginalized and daily-waged workers from April 02.  Municipality Executive Committee Meeting has followed the standard of Relief distribution with coordination from each ward Chairpersons and started to distribute food items. In the municipality emergency fund of 3o million has been allocated and 5 lakhs amount has been distributed for each ward to distribute relief items according to Mayor Shrestha. The family of four have received, 10 kg rice, 1 kg pulses and one packet salt. Similarly, for the people with a family of 5 to 7 one kg beaten rice, 1-litre oil,15 kg rice,2 packet salt has been distributed.

According to District Representative of Sindhuli Bimala Pandey, there are no COVID-19 positive cases among 5 isolated patients. There is not any patient in an isolation ward since 1 April. Similarly, in Kamlamai Municipality relief distribution for the daily wage workers has started by Mayor from 1 April. District Administration Office Sindhuli has banned the distribution of pass as following the lockdown. Dudhauli Municipality Ward 1’s chairperson Govinda Pahadi has distributed 1000 pcs mask and same time Tinpatan Rural Municipality Ward 1 chairperson Govinda Raut has distributed 1200 mask for people.

According to District Representative of Chitwan, Dipenedra Adhikari, Police has arrested 4 people who were found disobeying lockdown. Meanwhile, 4 people are under treatment in Special Corona ward.

According to District Representative Nuwakot of Pradip Shrestha, District Administrative Office Nuwakot has provided the pass for 695 wage workers to move in their district. Assistant Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire said that they are planning to send more than 200 waged-workers to their home.

According to District Representative of Dhading Sitaram Adhikari, Local authority has established health desk for the prevention of COVID-19 where they have tested fever only and likewise they have monitored the people who are returning from abroad.

According to District Representative of Lalitpur Deepak Ghimire, among 30 tests on COVID-19 27 were found negative and 3 are pending. All the local authorities have started data collection of poor families. Konjo Som Rural Municipality has distributed mask, sanitizer and handwashing soap according to Chairperson Gopilal Syangtan. In Lalitpur municipality ward no 4 nearby Mahalaxmisthan Mosque 13 Indonesian natives were stranded and after the request from locals, they were returned.

According to District Representative of Dolakha, Uddhav Pokhrel, From 2 April entire district in lockdown. Local Administration and government bodies have notified to open the daily grocery shop up to 7:00 am and after 6:00 pm for one hour. Bhimeswor Municipality has started to support senior citizen, disable people and marginalized for the food items. Shailung Rural Municipality has established an emergency fund for the support famine and declared decision for 10 thousand supports for treatment and likewise, they have decided to manage Ambulance from Kathmandu to Dolakha. The Committee has declared to support the officers, health workers and police about compensation of 1 Lakh compensations if they got sick and meanwhile if death they will get five lakhs.

According to District Representative of Rasuwa HemNath Khatiwoda, The situation is normal. Local people have demanded to lock down the border and suggested to update the data of people who are coming from abroad.

According to Kabhre District Representative Hiraman Tamnag, there is a not seen COVID-19 positive case but preparation and high alert is followed. In the whole district, 13 isolation wards and 271 quarantine established.

In Mandan Deupur Municipality 6 people are kept in isolation providing food and free Wifi. According to  Dhulikhel hospital Chief Narendra Kumar Jha, 3 people are kept under isolation ward for treatment. Temal Rural municipality has called meeting for the prevention of COVID-19 and they have decided to social awareness for local people. Rajkumar Tamang of Health Department Chief has said they have started to update the data of those people who are coming from abroad.

Panchkhal Municipality Mayor Mahesh Kharel has discussed the raising issue of vegetable and milk product selling in the market. He suggested fighting the global problem of COVID-19 with coordination from Local people making isolation

For the prevention of COVID-19 INSEC has disseminate message of awareness from Radio Namobuddha, Radio Gaurabh, Radio Kohshipari and Radio Kratnti where they have started since March 30.

Suggestion

People those who are coming from abroad should stay in quarantine. State should manage the daily basic items for the needy ones and relief distribution should be managed. We should not delay for the support and mange of these tasks and be patience with follow up the regulation prepared by the state.
