The speakers in the program on “coordinating role among the mechanisms of NHRC in the protection and promotion of human rights” organized in Kaski jointly by DIFRI and former commissioner society of NHRC in coordination of INSEC have said that it is very important that the mechanisms among NHRC must play effective coordinating role.
Former chairperson Kedar Nath Upadhya of NHRC said that NHRC must think on how to make the commissions, which are to be formed or have already formed stronger rather than raising questions on their necessity and prevalence.
He added that all commissions such as Dalit, Tharu, women and Muslim must coordinate on managing the complaints, coordination on monitoring and jointly publicizing the report. He also stressed that the state must always give priority on protection of human rights.
House spokesperson Netra Nath Adhikari of Gandaki Province said that all 761 governments must ensure human rights to its people from their place. He added that all these commissions are not rivals or competitors of each other.
Former commissioner and present political and HR advisor to the president, Sushil Pyakurel said that there is a need of mechanism that can coordinate between the constitutional commissions. He added that coordination is needed in every sector in the country. He said that the issue of Human Rights must be taken to the people through center, province and local government.
The objective of the program was to discuss on the mechanism that can bind all the commission for the protection and promotion of human rights.
