INSEC Monitors the District Prison of Surkhet

INSEC including the team of human rights activists have monitored the District Prison of Surkhet on September 12.

During the monitoring, the activists found that the inmates and detainees said that they are facing the hard life due to the lack of management. They said that they are having issues of drinking water, toilets, and issues of sleeping due to the lack of space.

Prison leader Sambhu Rokaya said that the issues of inmates and detainees were informed to prison administration and minister however no action has been taken yet.

The prison building was built almost 40 years ago and there are double number of inmates and detainees than its capacity. There is one toilet for female and four for male inmates

The team had gathered the information on Human Rights situation of the district with CDO Birendra Kumar Yadav and DPO SP Basanta Rajaure.
