It has been found that majority of private clinic and pharmacies operating in Baglung are illegal. During the monitoring, Baglung municipality has found 27 such pharmacies being illegal out of 28.
They are being operated in the name of health officials however having lack of knowledge on pharmacies. Majority of pharmacies are found to be not having their registration certificate renewed and having a shortage of efficient manpower.
Most of the medicine are being sold without the doctor’s prescription according to pharmacist Sabin Lamichhane of regional office of Pokhara. He added that the number of such illegal pharmacies are increasing due to the lack of controlling mechanism.
Market monitoring Officer Yukta Prasad Subedi said that such pharmacies will be warned and will be given time to correct otherwise they will be taken action.
