The locals have complained that a human excrete and dirt has been found in the water tank at Dunai Bazar in Dolpa.
Locals have accused drinking water consumers committee being apathetic in this serious issue. The sub section 4 of section 35 of the constitution has provisioned the right to clean drinking water and access to hygiene however this right of Dunai dwellers have been deprived.
The drinking water consumers committee said that the water has been supplied to about 200 families out of 300. Staffs said that the water distribution system being very messy is the reason behind the water contamination. Locals said that the issue is becoming very serious after the consumers committee is being apathetic to this situation.
In other hand, Secretary Hikkmat Shahi of the committee said that the committee is on the mission to manage the pipe and water tank however the problem was created due to the negligence of locals. He added that until Dashain, the problem will be solved.
The district has been declared as free open excrete district however the trend of not using toilets are increasing.
