Number of Inmates Returning to Nawalparasi Jail Reached 222

The inmates who had escaped during the Gen-z protest continue to return to the Nawalparasi Jail. Jailer Bikal Shrestha of Nawalparasi Jail stated that so far, 222 inmates have returned. According to him, 546 inmates had escaped from Nawalparasi Jail on September 10. Shrestha added that 17 men and 12 women remained in the jail, having not escaped, while the rest had taken control of the jail before fleeing.

After the situation at the jail went beyond control, the police allowed the inmates to leave without taking any action. Jailer Bikal Shrestha stated that after the inmates escaped, a notice was issued warning of possible further punishment and requesting the inmates to return. Following this, inmates have begun returning to the Jail daily. Among the inmates who escaped from Nawalparasi Jail , 40 are Indian nationals and one among them has already returned. According to Shrestha, 13 inmates from Nawalparasi Jail have reported to other jails in the country, while six inmates from other jails have come here. Shrestha also informed that two Moroccan nationals and one South African national who had escaped from the central jail are currently at Nawalparasi Jail.
