On 22 September, Prakashchandra Rai,45, attacked his wife Tikamaya Rai, 40, of Sakhejung, Ilam Municipality-1, with a khukuri in an attempt to kill her. Inspector Manbahadur Rai of the District Police Office stated that Rai attacked her during a domestic dispute. The victim sustained injuries to various parts of her body and was taken to the District Hospital. Later she was transferred to B & C Hospital in Birtamod, Jhapa, for further care.
Inspector Rai further reported that Prakashchandra, who attempted to kill his wife, hanged himself on 22 September. His body has been kept at the District Hospital for postmortem.
