During the Gen Z protest on 9 September, 11 government offices were vandalized and set on fire. The protesters also caused damage and arson at 11 government offices, nine police stations, and the homes of seven leaders. In Birgunj, the only metropolitan city in Madhesh Province, 18 vehicles including 16 public vehicles and 2 private vehicles were damaged. According to the Parsa District Police Office, all the vehicles, including two metropolitan ambulances, were completely destroyed by fire. Regarding the metropolitan buildings, seven structures, including the Mayor’s Secretariat, were damaged, of which three were reported by the metropolitan office as completely unusable.

According to Toya Narayan Subedi, Chief of the Parsa District Administration Office, protesters also vandalized and set fire to Nepal Telecom Birgunj Branch, the Inland Revenue Office, Ward Offices No. 10, 14, and 26 of the metropolitan city, Jirabhawani Rural Municipality Office, Birgunj Jail, the Child Reform Home, Pokhariya Municipality, and the temporary bench of Janakpur High Court in Birgunj.

According to data collected by the Parsa District Police Office, protesters vandalized, looted, and set fire to the private homes and properties of Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh, former ministers Rajkumar Gupta, Ajay Chaurasiya, and Pradip Yadav, Constituent Assembly member Anil Rungta, former Madhesh Province Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut, and Jirabhawani Rural Municipality Chairperson Anoj Chaudhary. Although the number of damaged structures has been recorded, the cost of damage to these structures and vehicles is still being assessed, Parsa District Administration Office Chief Subedi reported. While the damaged structures have been identified, a separate committee has been formed to accurately collect and estimate the financial losses.

SP Gautam Mishra of the Parsa District Police Office said that preliminary investigations show that the damage to government and private property during the protest involved individuals who had infiltrated the protest.

DSP Kishor Lamsal of the Parsa District Police Office stated that protesters caused damage to nine police offices in the district. The damaged structures include the Sugaulee Birta Area Police Office, Gandak Police Post, Khesraha Police Post, temporary police posts at Ghantaghar, Shivaparbati, Ranighat, Inarwa, the Chapkaiya Community Police Service Center, and the Green City Community Police Service Center. SP Lamsal added that police have been deployed to the damaged posts, stations, and area offices, and services have been resumed.
