Police arrested Dipak Sarki, 29, of Batase, Diprung Chhuchhummi Rural Municipality-4 on 15 September, for raping and killing a 28-year-old woman from the same place. DSP Prakash Budhathoki of the District Police Office stated that Sarki, a neighbor of the victim, was taken into custody on 16 September for investigation. The body of the woman, who worked at Ajambari Small Farmers Agricultural Cooperative in Sachhitapokhari, Diprung Chhuchhummi Rural Municipality-5, was found dead on the night of 15 September in Marse Community Forest, located between Diprung Chhuchhummi Batase-4 and Ramitedanda.
The husband of the deceased had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 16 September, suspecting that his wife may have been raped by their neighbor, Dipak Sarki. DSP Prakash Budhathoki stated that after Sarki’s arrest, he told the police that five other individuals were also involved in the incident. Police are searching for those accused who absconded after the incident.
The postmortem of the body was done at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Science, Dharan, Ghopa on 16 September. The family cremated the victim according to their culture at Budhiganga Muktighat in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-4 on the same day, .
