Peaceful Rally by Human Rights Defenders in Janakpurdham

A peace rally was organized in Janakpurdham on 17 September by the National Human Rights Commission, Madhesh Province, in collaboration with the Human Rights Defenders Network, Madhesh Province. The rally, which began at Ramananda Chowk, paid heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protest and aimed to promote peace, law and order, and the protection of human rights in the country. The rally passed through Barah Bigha and Janaki Chowk and reached Janak Chowk. The rally was followed by a corner meeting.

During the meeting, Raju Paswan, Coordinator of INSEC Madhesh Province and Chairperson of the Human Rights Defenders Network, Madhesh Province, emphasized the need for all parties to work together in support of human rights, peace, and justice. Coordinator Paswan also paid heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protest and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.

Similarly, addressing the meeting, Buddhanarayan Sahani, Chief and Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Madhesh Province Office, emphasized that all levels must be committed to protecting the value of human life and human rights. Following the meeting, all participants of the rally lit candles at Janak Chowk. The program was attended by leaders and representatives from the Federation of Nepali Journalists, the Women’s Human Rights Defenders Network, civil society, and various organizations active in the field of human rights.
