Six People Fall Sick following Consumption of Poisonous Mushroom

Six people in Balithum, Gulmidarbar Rural Municipality-1, fell sick after consuming poisonous mushrooms collected from the forest. According to DSP Ganga Bahadur Saru of the District Police Office, Gulmi, those affected belong to the same family: Kersingh Rajali,83, his daughter-in-law Hima Rajali, 33, and his grandchildren: Elina Rajali, 16 Bipana Rajali, 13, and Kiran Rajali, 10. In addition, 36-year-old neighbor Bipana Rajali also fell sick after consuming the mushrooms.

All of them are currently receiving treatment under medical supervision at the local Shubhsarathi Medical.

This is not the first such incident in Gulmi. In the month of June/July of the previous year, Phoolmaya Kumal,68, Thamman Bahadur Kumal, 76, and Gita Kumal, 36, from Digamchaur, Musikot Municipality–4, became ill after eating poisonous mushrooms.

The same year, a family in Khanigaun, Resunga Municipality–8, fell sick after consuming wild mushrooms resembling edible Button (Dalle) mushrooms collected from the Resunga Community Forest. As per the District Police Office, Gulmi, those affected were Top Bahadur Thapa, 65, Dilkumari Shris, 62, Laxman Thapa, 38, Bikash Thapa, 29, Deepika Thapa, 10, Binisa Thapa, 12, Sirjana Kaucha, 42, and 39-year-old Gita Thapa.
