The government has reported that 72 people have died across the country during the GenZ protest. Chief Secretary Ekanarayan Aryal confirmed this information at the ceremony marking Prime Minister Sushila Karki taking charge at Singha Durbar on 14 September.
According to him, 59 protesters, three police officers, and 10 inmates attempting to escape from jails have been killed. Currently, 1 and 34 protesters and 57 police officers are receiving treatment in various hospitals. Chief Secretary Aryal stated that the government has decided to declare those killed in the GenZ protest as martyrs and provide compensation of Rs. 10,00,000 each to the families of the victims.
