The District Administration Offices of Kaski, Tanahun, Parbat, Myagdi, and Baglung under Gandaki Province have issued a curfew order until the morning of September 13, 2025.
According to INSEC representatives Sanjay Ranabhat from Kaski, Prakash Chandra Bhattarai from Tanahun, and Amrit Paudel from Myagdi, the District Administration Offices of Kaski, Tanahun, Parbat, Myagdi, and Baglung issued a notice on September 12, announcing a curfew order effective until 6 a.m. on September 13. All District Administration Offices stated that, considering current situation in the country, which could result in demonstrations, rallies, riots, and clashes disrupting peace and security, a prohibitory order was issued throughout Tanahun district until 7 p.m. on September 12 under Section 6(3)(a) of the Local Administration Act, 1971. In addition, a curfew order was enforced from 7 p.m. on September 11 to 6 a.m. on September 12 under Section 6(a) of the same Act.
In the prohibited areas, gatherings of more than five people for hunger strikes, sit-ins, encirclements, rallies, demonstrations, and assemblies are banned. Likewise, except for vehicles providing essential services, the operation of all private and public transport has been restricted. The administration also warned that anyone violating the order or obstructing its enforcement will be prosecuted under prevailing laws. It was further stated that during the prohibitory period, essential services such as ambulances carrying patients, hearses, fire trucks, health workers’ vehicles, vehicles of journalists, tourists, human rights institutions, and diplomatic missions, as well as air passengers on the basis of air tickets, will be facilitated by security personnel for movement.
According to Tanahun representative Bhattarai, during the Gen-Z-led protest on September 9, most government and political party offices were vandalized and set on fire. Protesters caused damage to the District Administration Office and other government offices, as well as the offices of CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, and CPN-Maoist Centre.
Despite the prohibitory order in the Damauli bajar area, protesting youths vandalized the district offices of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML during the day. At the UML office, documents and furniture were taken outside and set on fire, while arson was also carried out inside the office. The Nepali Congress office was also vandalized. Later in the evening, the office of the CPN-Maoist Centre was attacked as well.
Government offices including the District Administration Office, District Court, District Coordination Committee, Byas Municipality, Land Revenue Office, Drinking Water, Irrigation, Internal Revenue Office, District Forest Office, and the Government Attorney’s Office were vandalized and set on fire, causing significant damage. Protesters also attacked the house of President Ram Chandra Paudel, located in Byas Municipality-2.

They further attacked the district prison and released all inmates. At that time, 312 prisoners with different cases were being held there.
According to Myagdi representative Amrit Paudel, the District Administration Office of Myagdi has prohibited any gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, or encirclements within the curfew area of Beni municipality. The curfew covers wards 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of Beni Municipality, extending east to the Myagdi-Parbat border, south to the Myagdi-Baglung border, and including the Arthinge and Galeshwar areas, as informed by Chief District Officer Badi Prasad Tiwari. The curfew, imposed in the district since the morning of September 10, remained in effect until 4 p.m. on September 12. The CDO further informed that the curfew would be lifted from 4 to 6 p.m. for the public to purchase essentials and re-imposed from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following morning.
After the vandalism at the Myagdi District Jail Branch on the morning of September 10, 76 prisoners escaped, out of which 25 had been recaptured by police as of the afternoon of September 11. According to jailer Pratigya Subedi of Myagdi District Prison, among the 76 escapees, consisting of both convicted inmates and detainees under trial, 25 were taken back into custody during ongoing search operations.
