Accused Arrested for Killing Wife

Police arrested Kiran Gurung,36, on 29 August on charges of killing his wife, Sumitra Kumal Gurung, 34, originally from Syaulewang, Naubahini Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan, and residing in Kerenga Pattalepokhara, Chhatradev Rural Municipality-4, Arghakhanchi.

It is reported that Sumitra was killed by her husband with a bamboo stick and a sickle during a domestic dispute on the night of 27 August. After Sumitra went missing for four to five days, her family reported to the police on 1 September. Police found her body buried in the kitchen.

According to DSP Chakra Bahadur Malla, Chief of the District Police Office, the investigation revealed that the accused had threatened his daughter, warning her that she would also be killed and buried if she spoke to anyone about her mother.

The post mortem of the body was done on 1 September at the District Hospital Sadhikharka.
