The Kapilvastu District Court has sentenced Prakash Pun, 19, of Halla Nagar, Shivaraj Municipality–2, to two years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl. According to court registrar Kamal Kumar Acharya, the bench of Judge Shiva Bahadur Thapa, on 12 August found him guilty and sentenced him to two years in prison, imposed a fine of Rs 20,000, and ordered Rs 800 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Ward Police Office, Chandrapur, Kapilvastu, on 8 September 2024, alleging that the accused had raped the girl on the same day. Subsequently, police arrested the accused from his home that same day.
The victim underwent a health examination at Kapilvastu Hospital, Taulihawa, on 8 September.
