The District Court sentenced Yam Bahadur Pun, 19, of Babai Rural Municipality–1 to 12 years in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl. According to court registrar Damodar Ghimire, the bench of Judge Romakanta Gyawali, in the 14 August found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 12 years in prison, imposed a fine of Rs 500,000, ordered Rs 25,000 as compensation, and Rs 1,800 to be deposited in the Victim Relief Fund.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the Tulshipur Police Station on 17 September 2024, reporting that the accused raped the victim on 7 September 2024. The victim underwent a medical examination at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulshipur, on 17 September. Police arrested the accused from his home on 18 September.
